Update SeekerWorks™

Release Notes:

SeekerWorksSetup2011-2-2.exe and SeekerWorksPLU$Setup2011-2-2.exe were published on April 5, 2011 and included the following enhancements and fixes (as well as all changes from previous versions):

  1. NEW: The (Email...) option can now be used with or without Microsoft Outlook.  If you uncheck the "Create Email In Outlook" check-box, you can send text-only messages with one optional attachment to whomever is selected in the Email Addresses list (NOTE: You will need to use your own SMTP service to actually send the email).  When you click the (Create Email) button, the "Send An Email..." screen will appear, and you can fill in the Subject and your message text, and attach a file (if desired), such as an audio recording, picture, etc.
  2.

  3. NEW: The (Security- Users) function now includes the capability to define SMTP email settings by user, in addition to global settings for all SeekerWorks™ email, as defined on the "Options" screen.  This enables you to personalize the email sent and uses the sender's email address as the Reply-To email address.  NOTE: All email created and sent via SeekerWorks™ via the (Email...), (Email Reminders To Scheduled Volunteers...), (Email Prayer Requests List...), and the (Email Follow Ups) options will use the setting for the current user (if defined) instead of the settings defined on the "Options" screen.
  4.

  5. NEW: The EZ Check-IN dynamic selection criteria has been enhanced to match names to ministry teams using the most complex logic first (e.g., Ministry Group, Age and Gender) before using the least complex logic (e.g., just Ministry Group).  This ensures more accurate assignment of the names being checked-in.
  6.

  7. NEW: The (EZ Check-IN Rosters) option has been renamed to (EZ Check-IN Links), since it shows two methods of dynamically assigning names to ministry teams using the schedules defined for the ministry.  The default view shows all of the names for a given Ministry Group and which ministry team they would be linked to for the selected Attendance Type.  This lets you know in advance if there's a problem with the way a name is set up.
  8.

  9. NEW: Additional possibilities have been added to the Marital Status drop-down lists.  They now include "Single-Parent", "Engaged", "Living-Together" and "DECEASED".
  10.

  11. NEW: The "EZ Check-IN Cards/Key Fobs By Card Number", "EZ Check-IN Cards/Key Fobs By Family ID", "EZ Check-IN Cards/Key Fobs By Name", and "EZ Check-IN Cards/Key Fobs By Phone" reports now show all of the names linked to each EZ Check-IN Card/Key Fob record, even if no card or key fob number is used.
  12.

  13. NEW: The "FIXCFXP2" batch program used to "Find/Fix Duplicate Card/Key Fobs" is now available to remove duplicate information and clean up the check-in records.  This could be run in conjunction with the "FIXCFXP1" batch program used to "Find/Fix Unknown Card/Key Fob Parent Or Child links".
  14.

  15. NEW: If an index file becomes corrupted, there is now a fast and easy way to rebuild that index file.  Give us a call if you need to rebuild index files.
  16.

  17. FIX: The error message, "Index file 'check_in_check_out_log.cdx' tag 'Cico_id' is corrupted.  Please rebuild it." should no longer occur.  The buffering settings have been modified to reduce this multi-user contention problem during the EZ Check-IN process.  While changing this setting could cause slightly slower response times, data refreshes should occur more frequently and contain the most up-to-date information.
  18.

  19. FIX: The EZ Check-IN process was assigning names to teams incorrectly when that assignment was based upon age in months.  This has been corrected.

  20. FIX: The "Follow Up (Tickler) List For: xxxxxxxx" screen (per the (My Follow Ups) option) was not working properly when right-clicking a follow up on the "Finished/Dismissed" tab and clicking the (Dismiss) button to UN-Dismiss it.  This now UN-Dismisses the correct follow up.
  21.

  22. FIX: When trying to install a PDF printer (to print to a PDF file), the "Operation could not be completed (error 0x800f0214)" error was occurring in Windows 7.  This has finally been fixed.

  13.

  15.

  16. NEW: New Batch programs have been added to erase all detail Gift information (ZAPGIVP1) while keeping all Giving Unit information, to separate duplicate Giving Units (FIXGUNP2 - i.e., assign a new Giving Unit ID to one of the Giving Units assigned the same Giving Unit ID), and to fill the Currency Type fields on gifts that may be missing the Base Currency Type value (FIXGIVP3).
  17.

  18. FIX: The Import... Giving information function now assigns a unique key value to each gift imported, which resolves an issue with gifts disappearing after a Giving Unit Merge action.
  19.

  20. FIX: The "Giving Statement", "Gift Receipts (for Canada Income Tax)" and "Gift Receipts (for U.S. Income Tax)" reports were showing the next name/address when a Giving Unit's grand total caused a page feed to print that total.  This should not occur any more.
  21.

  2.

  3. NEW: Follow Up Comments: When you Review a Follow Up (e.g., select a Follow Up on the "Follow Up (Tickler) File For: xxxxxxxx" screen) you can now change comments shown in the "Previous Comments:" section of the "Review Follow Up (Tickler) For: xxxxxxxx" screen, then click (Snooze), (Finished), (Dismiss), or (Refer...) to save the changes.
  4.

  5. NEW: The {Prayer} tab on the "Assimilation" screen is now the {Prayer/Milestones} tab, which includes check boxes for each Milestone possible (up to 9 different milestones). Clicking a Milestone will also update the appropriate date on the person's information if the milestone is mapped as such (e.g., baptism, accepted Christ, became a Member, etc.)
  6.

  7. NEW: The "Assimilation Summary" report now shows "(Confidential)" when a prayer request has been marked as such.
  8.

  9. NEW: A new "Pastoral Care Entry" report is now available and shows everything including the Notes from the "Pastoral Care Entry" screen.
  10.

  11. NEW: A (Print) button has been added to the "Pastoral Care Entry" screen that shows the new "Pastoral Care Entry" report for the current entry.
  12.

  13. FIX: The "Gender" filter while creating Labels, Mail Merge Files and Email Address Lists now works in all cases, including the (Load Ministry Group) selection option as well as the (Load Selected Names) selection option.
  14.

  15. FIX: The "Graduate Names To The Next Ministry Group Or Grade" screen now shows only Active names to be updated. Inactive names are excluded from the lists.
  16.

  17. FIX: The "EZ Check-IN Roster" report now excludes inactive Attendance Types.
  18.

  19. FIX: The "EZ Check-IN" screens now exclude inactive Attendance Types.
  20.

  21. FIX: The (New) button on the "Assimilation" screen was not resetting all of the information properly when creating a new Assimilation entry.
  22.

  23. FIX: The "Assimilation" screen was not requiring First Name and Last Name values. Now, both the First Name and the Last Name are required.
  24.

  25. FIX: The program error "Operator/Operand type mismatch" while using the "Prayer Requests" functions has been corrected.
  26.

  27. FIX: The program error while trying to merge two Giving Units has been corrected.
  28.

  29. FIX: The program error "Function argument value, type, or count is invalid" while trying to print to a PDF has been corrected.

SeekerWorksSetup2010-1-1.exe was published on January 12, 2010 and included the following enhancements and fixes (as well as all changes from previous versions):

  1. NEW: A Message box stating "SeekerWorks™ needs to upgrade the data files, but a sharing error has occurred. In order to upgrade the data files, you need EXCLUSIVE ACCESS to the database. However, someone else is using SeekerWorks™ at this time. Every other computer must close SeekerWorks™ first. Then, you will be able to upgrade the data files." now appears when you start up SeekerWorks™ for the first time after installing a new version AND someone else is using one or more of the data files. The program error that used to occur (1705- file access is denied) no longer occurs in this case.
  2.

  3. NEW: The "View A Potential EZ Check-IN Roster" screen now includes the "Pretend Today Is" date value to determine why someone may be excluded from the Attendance Type/Ministry/Team combination using the EZ Check-IN screens.
  4.

  5. FIX: The "Merge Two Giving Units" screen, available by clicking the (Merge) button on the "Select A Giving Unit" screen via (Giving Units) button on the {Gifts/Pledges} tab of the main menu, was not working and now does.
  6.

  7. FIX: Program Error "Variable 'XVOLUNTEERIND' not found" no longer occurs during EZ Check-IN of Adults who are not volunteering.
  8.

  9. FIX: The "Assimilation Summary" report now shows up to three of the "I'd like more info on" check boxes as well as up to three of the "I'm interested in serving in" check boxes. Previously, only the first one checked was shown on this report. Also, the first three of the check boxes on the {Wants/Needs/Interests} tab appear on this report now, instead of only the first one checked.
  10.

  11. FIX: The "Assimilation" screen was not saving the Follow Up Comments properly or at all when no Follow Up Path could be found with the Assimilation trigger checked. This has been corrected, although one Follow Up must still be associated with the Assimilation event in order to save those comments. If there isn't one, you will get an error message telling you there isn't one. In that case, we recommend you click the "I'd like more info on: OTHER" check box, click the (Save) button to create a Follow Up tied to that check box, then add your Follow Up Comments.
  12.

  13. FIX: Questions 4 through 15 on the {Wants/Needs/Interests} tab of the "Assimilation" screen were not creating Follow Ups. This is working now.
  14.

  15. FIX: The Restore portion of the Backup/Restore process was receiving numerous program errors when restoring data from a backup created in an older version of SeekerWorks™. These errors no longer occur.
  16.

  17. FIX: Program Error "File 'Secured_small_group_user.csv' not found" no longer occurs during a Restore.
  18.

  19. FIX: The Backup portion of the Backup/Restore process was receiving numerous program errors when backing up data after restoring it from an older version of SeekerWorks™. These errors no longer occur.

SeekerWorksSetup2009-4-2.exe was published on December 28, 2009 and included the following enhancements and fixes (as well as all changes from previous versions):

  1. NEW: The "View A Potential EZ Check-IN Roster" screen, available by clicking the (EZ Check-IN Rosters) button on the {My Info/General Info} tab of the main menu, shows all of the Active names for the Ministry Group used on each Team Schedule with the "Pick Children Dynamically" box checked on the corresponding "Schedule A Ministry Team" screen. As you select an Attendance Type, Ministry, and Ministry Team, the list will show all of the potential, active names covered by that schedule. If a name will be excluded from a schedule for some reason, that reason is displayed to the right of the person's name. Simply <click> on a name to go to their "Update A Name/Address" screen and change their values, if needed. This is an easy way to see what names need additional information in order to use EZ Check-IN to its fullest potential.
  2.

  3. NEW: The "Assimilation Summary" report now shows all of the Follow Up (Tickler) comments related to that Assimilation entry as well as those for all related Follow Ups (Ticklers). This includes comments entered on the {Follow Up Comments} tab of the "Assimilation" screen. Comments are grouped by their related Follow Up Path(s). The Follow Up comments appear in dark red, while the Prayer Requests appear in dark blue. This helps differentiate between the two.
  4.

  5. NEW: Report- "Volunteers Scheduled By Month" shows each person in a ministry and when they are scheduled to volunteer during the month per each Attendance Type, Ministry Team and Position they are scheduled for.
  6.

  7. NEW: Reports-
    • "Cards/Key Fobs By Name" shows each Card/Key Fob set up for EZ Check-IN, sorted by Name
    •

    • "Cards/Key Fobs By Family ID" shows each Card/Key Fob set up for EZ Check-IN, sorted by Family ID
    •

    • "Cards/Key Fobs By Card/Key Fob Number" shows each Card/Key Fob set up for EZ Check-IN, sorted by Card/Key Fob Number
    •

    • "Cards/Key Fobs By Phone" shows each Card/Key Fob set up for EZ Check-IN, sorted by the Main Phone Number for the person's address
    •

    • "Email Records By Name" shows each email address loaded to the email list file using the "Email..." screen (see the (View/Print Roster...) button on that screen as well), sorted by Name
    •

    • "Mail Merge Records By Name" shows each mail merge records loaded to the mail merge file using the "Load People To The Mail Merge File..." and "Load Giving Units To The Mail Merge File..." screens (see the (View/Print Roster...) button on those screens as well), sorted by Name
    •

  8. FIX: The {Prayer} tab on the "Assimilation" screen was showing every Prayer Request entered for every Assimilation entry for the same "Date Attended", instead of just for the person linked to the Assimilation entry. This has been corrected.
  9.

  10. FIX: The {Follow Up Comments} tab on the "Assimilation" screen was not indicating which Follow Up the comments are linked to. Now, each comment is preceded by the Follow Up Path for that comment, so you can tell which of the related Follow Ups go with which comment.

The previous version, SeekerWorksSetup2009-4-1.exe was published on December 19, 2009 and included the following enhancements and fixes (as well as all changes from previous versions):

  1. NEW: Throughout SeekerWorks™, all of the listboxes expecting a <double-click> with the mouse to select an item and click the default button (e.g., when an item is selected with a <double-click> the logic automatically clicks the (Update) button or the (...) button) will now select that item and click the default button using a single <left-click> with the mouse. This makes SeekerWorks much easier to use and navigate and is intended to reduce confusion. Use a <right-click> instead to select an item, then <left-click> on a different button to avoid clicking the default button.
  2.

  3. NEW: The (Ministry Teams) and (Team Schedules) functions have been changed to link and schedule Volunteers and their Positions, not just Volunteers. All related screens and reports have been updated as well, including the EZ Check-IN screens and reports. This allows you to schedule each Position a person may fill on the same Ministry Team, such as Teacher one week and Helper another week.
  4.

  5. NEW: Whenever an Anniversary Date is in the future, the related directories showing this date will only show the month and day. This is intended to allow you to record a person's anniversary even when you don't know what year he/she was married. We recommend you use 2099 as the year in that case to clearly indicate the year of the anniversary is unknown.
  6.

  7. NEW: All Check-IN and Check-OUT reports no longer show the Check-IN time using a 24 hour clock. Instead, it shows the time using a 12 hour clock with either AM or PM, as appropriate.
  8.

  9. NEW: The "Update A Name/Address" screen now includes an (EZ Check-IN) button to update the "EZ Check-IN Information For: XXXXXXXXXX" screen information used during the Check-IN or Check-OUT processes. This button makes that information more readily accessible, rather than needing to click first on the (Attendance...) button, then clicking on the {EZ Check-IN Info} tab, then clicking on a Card or Key Fob number to see the "EZ Check-IN Household Setup" screen, then <right-clicking> on the person's picture to see the "EZ Check-IN Information For: XXXXXXXXXX" screen.
  10.

  11. NEW: The "List Of RFID Cards/Key Fobs" screen is now available by clicking the (Cards/Key Fobs) button on the {People} tab of the Main Menu. This screen shows every Card or Key Fob, and/or Phone Number used with the EZ Check-IN process. An option is also available to sort the information by Family ID, Card/Key Fob Number, Main Phone Number or Last Name. You can <click> on an entry to see the "EZ Check-IN Household Setup" screen (it clicks the (Update) button for you), then modifying the information as necessary. Again, <right-click> on a picture or picture placeholder on that screen to show the "EZ Check-IN Information For: XXXXXXXXXX" screen for the respective person.
  12.

  13. NEW: The "Graduate Names To The Next Ministry Group Or Grade" screen is now available by clicking the (Graduation/Promotion) button on the {People} tab of the Main Menu. This screen shows three tabs that contain the names of those who will "graduate" to the next Ministry Group or Grade based upon the information defined on the "Maintain The Ministry Group List" screen (see the (Ministry Group List) button on the {Tables/Utilities} tab of the Main Menu). WARNING: there is not an (UnDo) capability once you graduate the names.
    • The {By Months Old} tab previews all of the names that are missing a birthdate, or that will be changed to the next Ministry Group based upon their age in months when you click the (Graduate) button (e.g., per the default settings, names in the Nursery Ministry Group are supposed to graduate to the Toddler Nursery Ministry Group when they exceed 18 months old, and Toddlers are supposed to graduate to the Preschool Ministry Group when they exceed 36 months old.) This tab should be reviewed monthly, although you could graduate these names at any time.
    • The {By Years Old} tab previews all of the names that are missing a birthdate, or that will be changed to the next Ministry Group based upon the age in years when you click the (Graduate) button (e.g., per the default settings, names in the Preschool Ministry Group are supposed to graduate to the Elementary Ministry Group when they exceed 6 years old.) This tab should be reviewed yearly, although you could graduate these names at any time.
    • The {By Grade In School} tab previews all of the names in the Ministry Groups that graduate based upon their Grade In School (e.g., Elementary, Middle School and High School). It shows their current Grade value ("__" is used when the grade is missing) and current Ministry Group and the New Grade value and Ministry Group they will graduate into if you click the (Graduate) button (e.g., per the default settings, names in the Elementary Ministry Group are supposed to graduate to the Middle School Ministry Group when their grade exceeds 5th grade, and the Middle School names are supposed to graduate to the High School Ministry Group when their grade exceeds 8th grade. Similarly, the High School names graduate to the Adult Ministry Group when their grade exceeds 12th grade, and they are automatically assigned a new Household ID, which separates them from their household.) This tab should be reviewed yearly. Be careful you don't graduate these names more than once a year.
    • Each of the tabs also allows you to <click> a name to see their "Update A Name/Address" screen. This lets you change values manually, if desired.
    • Lastly, the GRADU8P1, GRADU8P2 and GRADU8P3 programs have been removed from the "List Of Batch Programs" screen in lieu of this new screen.
  14.

  15. NEW: The {Totals} and {Those Who Stopped Giving} tabs on the "Gift Analysis" screen now have (Print) buttons to make a hard copy of the information. If you have security, the detail from the {Giving Units} tab will print also. Otherwise, you'll only see the totals.
  16.

  17. NEW: An "Assimilation Summary" report is now available to show pertinent information about the assimilation cards received using less paper. The Total Attendance associated with each Attendance Type will appear on this report as well.
  18.

  19. NEW: A "Links To Cards/Key Fobs With Missing Pictures" report is now available to find EZ Check-IN names without a picture. Use this to easily determine who needs their picture taken.
  20.

  21. NEW: The (Email Prayer Requests List...) button on the "List Of Prayer Requests" screen now allows you to email only those active, non-confidential prayer requests within a given date range, or all active, non-confidential prayer requests, as before.
  22.

  23. FIX: The EZ Check-IN process was not accumulating Attendance Totals properly. While we believe we've fixed the problems involved, please let us know if you suspect a problem. And, if you can recreate the error, that would be extremely helpful in fixing any potential flaws. As a result, a new "FIXATTP3" Batch program is available to recalculate the Attendance Totals based upon attendance by person records.
  24.

  25. FIX: The Attendance by person reports now exclude Inactive names, unless they were present during the date range used to select the names.
  26.

  27. FIX: The Attendance by person reports now show the related Attendance Types for the names selected. We apologize for the confusion caused by inadvertantly excluding this information from the reports. Subtotals appear at the end of each Attendance Type group.
  28.

  29. FIX: The Average Attendance by person reports now show the correct averages.
  30.

  31. FIX: The "Volunteers Scheduled Vs. Absent" report now shows the Unscheduled names of those who Checked-IN during the date range selected.
  32.

  33. FIX: During Volunteer Check-IN using the EZ Check-IN process, selecting a role when it is not scheduled was erasing the selected Attendance Type, causing the volunteer to re-select the Attendance Type in order to Check-IN. This has been corrected and uses the Attendance Type selected prior to clicking on the volunteer role.
  34.

  35. FIX: The Calendar functions were not allowing changes to the Recurring information, such as selecting the "Last" Wednesday of the month. This has been corrected.
  36.

  37. FIX: The (Email Prayer Requests List...) button on the "List Of Prayer Requests" screen no longer shows a program error when you click it. While you could have clicked the (Ignore) button and proceed with the email, this irritant no longer occurs.

SeekerWorksSetup2009-2-1.exe included the following enhancements and fixes (as well as all changes from previous versions):

  1. NEW: A major change has been made to the menu buttons. Since we started running out of room for additional buttons, and in preparation for our release of SeekerWorksPLU$ later this year, the menu buttons have been put on multiple pages within the same section of the screen and those buttons have been made larger. Now, instead of seeing all of the buttons at one time with the former brown headings above each group of menu buttons, those brown headings now appear as {page tabs} at the top of the screen. Simply click the desired page tab, then click the desired menu button (e.g., "People", "My Info/General Info", "Gifts/Pledges", "Email/Labels/Merge", and "Tables/Utilities"). Some people had complained that the buttons were too small on very high resolution monitors and the sheer number of buttons shown at one time was a bit overwhelming, so we hope this is a good compromise. Let us know what you think!

NOTE: The (Facility Information), (Follow Up Paths) and (Library Information) buttons were moved from the "Tables/Utilities" section to the "My Info/General Info" page, the (Spiritual Gifts Search) button was moved from the "General Info" section to the "People" page, and the (Find Names-No Activity) button was moved from the "Tables/Utilities" section to the "People" page. Also, the "My Info" and "General Info" sections were combined onto one page, and the "Export/Import" section was moved to the "Tables/Utilities" page.
  2. NEW: A major change has been made to all of the Small-Group related information. You can no longer see information for a small group unless you have been granted security for that small group using the new (Security - Small Groups) function on the "Tables/Utilities" menu page. While all of the Small Groups still appear on the "List Of Small Groups" screen, you will receive an error message if you try to access a group you are not authorized to see. Also, most of the Small Group reports will no longer show information on any group that the person running the report does not have authorization to see. This change is necessary to protect some of the more sensitive recovery groups and their members and information, including any related prayer requests from that group. While it may appear like someone is not in a small group at all, it may be they are in a group the viewer does not have access to.
  3. NEW: The EZ Check-IN function will now check in and record attendance for adults regardless of whether they have children or not. However, you must select the "Check here to track Adult Attendance Also" check box on the "EZ Check-IN Settings" screen.
  4. NEW: The EZ Check-IN function will now check in and record attendance for Middle School/High School students without requiring that an authorized person must be selected first. The "EZ Check-IN - Select Person Authorized To Check-IN/Check-OUT" screen is now skipped when the "Check here to NOT require Authorized Person(s)" check box is checked on the "EZ Check-IN Settings" screen.
  5. NEW: The EZ Check-IN function no longer requires that Ministry/Team and Building/Room combinations be scheduled in advance when evaluating the "Pick Children Dynamically" criteria from the "Schedule A Ministry Team" screen. If a Ministry, Team, Building and/or Room cannot be determined, any name tags and reports will print with underlines in those sections instead of giving the previous error that would not allow the check-in to be completed. While advanced scheduling is still highly recommended, at least the person will still be able to check-in what that information is missing.
  6. NEW: Two new reports, "Average Attendance By Person" and "Average Attendance By Person (12 weeks)" have been added to the "Attendance" subject area to show Average attendance for each person (i.e., the percentage of time the person has been present.) These reports are generally the same as "Attendance By Person" and "Attendance By Person (13 weeks)" reports, except the furthest right column has been removed and replaced with an average column (e.g., "78%" if the person is present 78 percent of the time).
  7. NEW: A new "'Monthly Attendance Totals' Report" screen and report have been created to show Attendance Totals for a whole month on one page, as well as average attendance for each Attendance Type. Use the (Print) button on that screen to actually print a copy of the report. You can access this screen using either the (Monthly Totals) button on the "List Of Attendance Totals" screen or by selecting the "Monthly Attendance Totals By Week" report on the "List Of Reports" screen.
  8. NEW: The {People} menu page now includes a (Spiritual Gifts) button to show the Spiritual Gift information on all Volunteers, sorted decending by the date of the Spiritual Gifts class. While this information has been available for some time, it was previously accessible only through the (Names/Addresses) and (Spiritual Gifts Search) functions.
  9. NEW: The {People} menu page now includes a (Milestone Events) button to record the dates for whatever events you consider a milestone for your people. Once you first create a Milestone Event Type for each event you can then (Add) people linked to those Milestone Event Types and the date they occurred. Use this function to keep track of conversions, baptisms, membership dates, marriages, (which can also update the related date fields on the person's (Names/Addresses) screen) or anything else you want to record. A new "Milestone Events" report is also available to print totals and/or detail by person for each Milestone Event Type and the date range you provide.
  10. NEW: The (Giving Unit) and (Gifts) functions now support envelope numbers. Once you define an envelope number on a Giving Unit record, you can use that number to record any Gifts they give in addition to selecting the Giving Units by name.
  11. NEW: A new "Gift Receipts (for Canada Income Tax)" report is now available through the (Gift/Pledge Reports) function on the {Gifts/Pledges} menu page for our Canadian friends to fulfill their tax reporting requirements to their constituents while complying with Canada Revenue Agency requirements. This report is similar to the "Giving Statement" report that is also available, except it shows a total only.
  12. FIX: On Windows Vista, the SeekerWorks.ini file will now reside in the "Public\SeekerWorks" folder instead of the "C:\ProgramData\SeekerWorks" folder on each computer. If this file already exists in the latter folder, it will be copied to this new location. This resolves a file sharing issue when multiple user accounts are used on the same physical computer, where updates to the SeekerWorks.ini file would be ignore when using user accounts other than the one used to install SeekerWorks (e.g., creating additional databases, changing EZ Check-IN settings, changing the TextFileHome setting, etc.)
  13. FIX: The (Pledge vs. Actual) screen, accessible through the (Totals By Category) or (Totals By Giving Unit) functions now shows the correct Gift Category when the "Fiscal Year Begins" value is not January.
  14. FIX: You can now erase a Pledge by clicking on the Giving Unit's name (which is protected from changes) and then pressing the <DEL> key within the (Pledges) function. This is in addition to pressing the <DEL> key while on the (...) button.
  15. FIX: Although this was somewhat corrected in the previous version, the (Cancel) button now works properly using the EZ Check-IN functions.
  16. FIX: The abend that occurred when using the "Add Guest" button in the EZ Check-IN function has been corrected and no longer occurs.
  17. FIX: Although this was somewhat corrected in the previous version, the Volunteer Check-IN functions no longer abend.
  18. FIX: Although this was somewhat corrected in the previous version, Volunteers can now check in even when the "Check here to print Volunteer Name Tags" check box is not checked on the "EZ Check-IN Settings" screen.
  19. FIX: Abend message "Property 'lCombine' is not found" no longer occurs when using the (Combine) function within the EZ Check-IN functions.

SeekerWorksSetup2008-4-2.exe included the following enhancements and fixes (as well as all changes from previous versions):

  1. NEW: A Library system is now available to catalog whatever you want (see the (Library Information) button under the Tables/Utilities section). For each "Library" you can create multiple "Series", which can contain multiple "Catalog Entries". Use it to keep track of sermons, books, lesson plans, etc. You can also link artwork and/or one other attachment to each entry, such as a recording, sermon notes, etc. However, there is a limit of 2GB worth of attachments allowed by the Visual FoxPro database, so don't load too many really large files.
  2. NEW: The "Update A Household" screen now has the following added features:
    • A new column is included for the person's Grade in school.
    • To the right of each name, there is now a (+) Zoom button to go directly to the "Update A Name/Address" screen for the respective name.
    • At the bottom of the screen, a new (Follow Ups...) button is available to show every Follow Up (Tickler) for the whole household. The "Update A Name/Address" screen still shows only the Follow Ups (Ticklers) for the current name.
  3. NEW: The "Assimilation" screens/report now have the following added features:
    • You can now indicate "First-time Visitor" or "Second-time Visitor" or "Third-time Visitor" rather than just "First-time Visitor". Also, each of these three boxes now triggers the related Follow Up (Tickler) Path, as provided on the {Age Labels/Visitor Paths} tab on the "Assimilation/Follow Up (Tickler) Map" screen.
    • A new {Prayer} tab is included to link Prayer Requests to the Assimilation form. Now you can add prayer requests at the same time you put in the Assimilation information.
    • The "Assimilation" report now shows a "FIRST", "SECOND" or "THIRD" label when the related box is checked.
  4. NEW: The "Follow Up (Tickler) List For: xxxxxxxxxx" screens now have the following added features:
    • When you SNOOZE on a Follow Up (Tickler) to get it off of your {Due Today} tab, you can now indicate how long you want to Snooze. The choices are:
      • 1 Day, 2 Days, 3 Days, 4 Days, 5 Days, 6 Days, 7 Days, 2 Weeks, 3 Weeks, 4 Weeks, 5 Weeks, 6 Weeks, 2 Months or 3 Months.
    • If you DISMISS a Follow Up (Tickler) linked to a path for the "First-time Visitor" or "Second-time Visitor" or "Third-time Visitor" Assimilation boxes, this action will also trigger any path(s) with the "Dismissed Assimilation" trigger checked as does the dismissal of a Follow Up path with the "Assimilation" trigger checked (e.g., the "New Assimilation Example" path).
    • A new "Dismissed Assimilation Example" path is included in the default set up. If you already have paths set up, you'll have to manually add this path yourself.
    • When you review a "Dismissed Assimilation" Follow Up (Tickler), you can now click the (Household) button to see information for the person's Household or the (Follow Ups) button to see all Follow Ups (Ticklers) linked to the person's Household. This allows you to Review and/or Dismiss any related Follow Ups for this person's household (if desired). For example, if someone's Assimilation follow up was dismissed, you may want to dismiss any other follow ups for that person or household such as "Info- xxx" or "Serve- xxx" or "New xxx", etc., rather than have others continuing to follow up on them.
  5. NEW: The "Small Group" screens now have the following added features:
    • A new "Neighborhood" field is available to indicate the general area in which a small group meets (e.g., "Midtown" or "NW" or the name of a suburb).
    • The "Division", "Coach" and "Leader" labels were missing on the Options screen for new installs using versions 2008-3-1 or 2008-3-2. This should now be resolved and shouldn't happen anymore.
    • The "Small Group Attendance" screen is now call the "Information For A Small Group Meeting" screen, which contains two tabs to manage the information. The {Small Group Meeting Attendance} tab contains the attendance information as before, while the new {Small Group Meeting Activity} tab contains text areas for tracking "Topics Discussed", "Questions Needing Answers" or other "Comments" arising from that particular meeting. In addition, you can link confidential Prayer Requests to that small group meeting as well.
    • The "Update Small Group Information" screen, which appears when you click the (Small Group) button on someone's "Update A Name/Address" screen, will now zoom in to the "Update A Small Group" screen when you <double-click> a small group in the "Member of Small Group(s)" list. This makes it easier to see information about that small group without having to open a bunch of other screens using the (Small Group) button on the Main Menu.
  6. NEW: The "Volunteers/Ministries" screens now have the following added features:
    • A new "Update Ministry Clearance Information" screen is now available to record who has been cleared and when (e.g., they've gone through a background check) for each volunteer linked to a particular ministry.
    • The EZ Check-IN process for volunteers can now print one of two logos on the person's picture name tag. If they have been cleared, the main Ministry Logo prints on the tag. Otherwise the UNCLEARED Logo will print instead. This logo is also maintained on the clearance screen mentioned above.
    • The "Email Reminders To Scheduled Volunteers" screen has a new "Minutes" field you can use to indicate how early you want them to show up. It also has the following modified message (Note: the <<>> parameters are replaced with the appropriate information when you click (OK)):
      • REMINDER: <<volunteer_name>> is scheduled to serve on the '<<team_name>>' team for the '<<ministry_name>>' ministry during the '<<attendance_type>>' service (<<time>>) this <<day>> (<<date>>) at <<organization_name>>. Please be ready to serve <<minutes>> minutes before your service time.
  7. NEW: The EZ Check-IN process now has the following added features:
    • You can now indicate on the "EZ Check-IN Settings" screen whether you want to print name tags for Volunteers or not. By checking or unchecking this box, each volunteer will no longer be asked if they want a name tag. You can also check the "Use TWAIN For Pictures" box if your webcam supports the TWAIN standard.
    • If someone in a household brings a one-time guest and they want to check them in also, there is now an (Add Guest) button on the "EZ Check-IN - Select All Children For Check-In/Check-Out..." screen. When they click this button, the "EZ Check-IN: Add A Guest..." screen will appear asking for the child's first/last name. When they click the (Continue) button, the "EZ Check-IN Information For: xxxx" screen appears, asking for pertinent information needed to check them in, as well as the opportunity to quickly take their picture. At a minimum, they should provide the child's Gender, Birthdate, Ministry Group and Grade (if necessary), as well as any Medical Information, Special Instructions or Restrictions. The "Use Team" drop-down list can be used to select one particular team if necessary.
    • A new (EZ Check-IN Guests) button is available on the "List Of Attendance Totals" screen. Use this button to see all of the latest "Guests" and click the (Remove Links) button to unlink them from the repective Household's Card/Key Fob Settings.
    • If more than one RFID Card or Key Fob is assigned to a Household, you will now be asked "This Card or Key Fob is an EXTRA Card or Key Fob for this household. Do you want to use the SAME SETTINGS as the primary Card or Key Fob for this household?" Click (Yes) to map the new Card to the primary Card or click (No) to set up the new card with its own settings.
    • Using EZ Check-IN on a weekday now defaults the Attendance Type.
  8. NEW: The following "Batch" programs are now available:
    • "DELGIVP1" can be used to completely wipe out all Giving Unit, Gift and Pledge information if you wish to start over with no data.
    • "FIXCFXP1" can be used if certain RFID Cards, Key Fobs or Phone Number links become corrupted. The problems causing corruption have been fixed, but this program is available just in case.
  9. NEW: A generic IMPORT function is now available to load Names/Addresses using the "Contacts From A Comma Or Tab Delimited File" option. This function lets you map each column of your input data file to a related SeekerWorks™ field. New customers no longer have to format their data into an acceptable format prior to importing.
  10. NEW: Report- "Names With Ages/Grades For A Ministry Group" shows a person's Birthdate, Age, Grade, Home Phone, and Email Address. If their email address is blank and their Household Label box is not checked, their parent(s)' email addresses will show instead (if any).
  11. NEW: Report- "Ministry Info. w/Picture (2 column layout)" is now available to advertise your respective ministries, with the picture of the ministry leader.
  12. NEW: Report- "Class/Seminar Info. w/Picture (2 column layout)" is now available to advertise your up-coming classes or seminars, with the picture of the leader.
  13. NEW: Some of the existing reports now show the parent(s)' email addresses when a person's email address is blank and their Household Label box is not checked.
  14. FIX: Since Windows Vista doesn't support the TWAIN interface for all webcams, this functionality is now available through the Video interface. Note that the Video interface cannot interpolate pixels into a larger picture size, so the resolution on some webcams may be less than desired. Use the TWAIN interface instead if your webcam supports that standard.
  15. FIX: The default post-script PDF file printer driver selected for Windows Vista did not support color printing. This should be resolved.
  16. FIX: The "Other_1" through "Other_7" labels were missing on the Options screen for new installs using versions 2008-3-1 or 2008-3-2 (as well as the "Update A Name/Address" screen). This should now be resolved and shouldn't happen anymore.
  17. FIX: The organization's address on the (Options) screen was being erased on the "List Of Addresses" screen by mistake. The (Erase) button no longer deletes this address.
  18. FIX: When clicking the (...) button to select an Address on the (Options) screen, then clicking the (Cancel) button, the message did not appear asking you if you wanted to unlink the organization from the related Household ID. Now it does.
  19. FIX: The (Options) screen would not allow any button to be clicked except (Done) when the selected Spiritual Gifts Curriculum was "OTHER" by issuing the "Click (Done) to save" message. This should be resolved.
  20. FIX: The (Erase) button on the "List Of Names" screen was not erasing all of the related information, including the Card/Key Fob settings. Now it does.
  21. FIX: The (Merge) button on the "List Of Names" screen was not merging all of the related information, including the Card/Key Fob settings. Now it does.

  5. NEW: The (Labels- Names...) function now has an "Exclude Names w/Email" check box to avoid loading a label for anyone who has an email address if the check box is checked. This will help you save postage if you can email information to them instead of mailing it to them.

  7. NEW: When printing Labels on the 3 x 10 label sheet, you can now specify the row and column to print the first label (e.g., row 3, column 2). This allows you to print labels on a labels sheet with missing labels.

    • The "Update A Household" screen has been expanded to 1024x768 to allow up to 20 different household members as well as including the "Title", "Cell Phone:" and "Email:" columns for each name. Both sets of address values are now available as well.

  1. The SEEKERWORKS HELP SYSTEM has been completely updated. You can now get up-to-date help on any screen by pressing <F1> on that screen.
  2. The EZ Check-IN beta-testing process is now finished. A number of changes and fixes have been applied.
    • If you use a DYMO Label Writer Twin Turbo, you can select which roll has the shipping labels and which roll has the address labels.
    • You can print labels again, even after checking in, just by checking in again.
    • If you select a volunteer role, you are checked in immediately, rather than forcing you to actually click the (Check-IN) button.
    • You can also check in multiple volunteers in the same household at the same time.
    • You can pick a different printer for the "Combined" reports than the "Single" reports. This allows the Single reports to continue to print on a half sheet of paper, while printing the Combined reports on a full sheet of paper.
    • The Check-OUT Combined report now shows up to four children on one sheet (rather than the previous limit of three).
    • The automatic Attendance Type selection logic has been enhanced to generally default to the upcoming (or current) Attendance Type on Check-IN or the previous (or current) Attendance Type on Check-OUT.
    • When setting up a new household, all names marked as "Inactive" are excluded from the EZ Check-IN household (though you can still add them manually with the (...) button).
    • Some printing problems and abends have been fixed. This process is now quite error free and fast!
  3. NEW: The "Update A Name/Address" screen fills the First Attended Year/Month with the current Year/Month (if they are left blank) when a new name is added to the database.

FIX: When an address is put into the first set of address fields, but the "This is the mailing address" box is checked on the second set of address fields, which have been left blank, the box is now unchecked automatically and the first set of address fields is used as the mailing address. This resolves an issue where a person shows up in the list, but their address is shown as ",,".
  8. FIX: When erasing an address on the "List of Addresses" screen, logic has been added to prevent this if the address is also used on a Giving Unit. This solves an issue with addresses disappearing on Giving Units.
  9. FIX: The email functions should now work if the Email Address field contains multiple email addresses separated by a semi-colon and a space.
  10. FIX: The Backup/Restore function was losing a small amount of data during the restore. This has been corrected.
  11. Some screen titles and labels have been adjusted to (hopefully) clarify their purposes.

SeekerWorksSetup2008-1-1.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. NEW: Change EZ Check-IN process- Now, instead of receiving the "This person is already included to be checked-in/checked-out." error when you click the (...) button to select a new person who can do the check-in/check-out, or the "This person is already allowed to check-in/check-out." error when you click the (...) button to select a new person to be checked-in/checked-out, now you can swap from the side they're on to the other side by clicking (Yes) to the question "'First Last_name' is in the 'To Be Checked-IN' section. Do you want to remove them from the 'To Be Checked-IN' section and add them to the 'Authorized' section?"

  3. NEW: Change EZ Check-IN process- Now you can change settings for a family and click the (Check-IN) button without actually picking anyone to check-in. This is helpful when swapping a volunteer from one side to the other. However, if no settings changes are found, you'll still get an error telling you you'll need to pick a child for check-IN before you can continue.
  4. NEW: Change EZ Check-IN process- A new report is now available to combine up to 3 children on one report if they are all in the same building/room combination. This is intended to save paper.

  1. The (Assimilation/Follow Up (Tickler) Map...) function within the "Follow Up Paths" function has been enhanced for our friends in New Zealand to give you full control over everything on your Assimilation form. The number of boxes you can check for "Information On..." and "Serving In..." information has been expanded from 11 to 16 choices, with support for a separate Follow Up Path for each option. Also, instead of seeing only two questions for "I want to learn more about this church" and "I want to learn more about what it means to be a Christ follower", you now have the option of up to 15 questions with corresponding Follow Up Paths for each question. Lastly, you can modify the default "Age Labels" to better match your organization, such as using "Junior High" instead of "Middle School".
  2. The "Assimilation" screen and report now show all of the questions/options you specify on the Assimilation/Follow Up (Tickler) Map screen (see #1 above). You can also indicate the Attendance Type for the service the person attended, as well as clicking the new (Household) button when adding a whole family vs. just the person filling out the Assimilation form. Lastly, the "Work Phone" field has been replaced with the "Cell Phone" field.
  3. A new (Exchange Rates) button is now available on the main menu under the "Tables/Utilities" heading for our friends in Germany. This provides a way for you to put in daily exchange rates between your Giving Unit's favorite currencies (e.g., CAD - Canadian Dollars, EUR - Euros, GBP - British Pound Sterling) and your base currency (i.e., the currency you normally use in your organization, such as USD - US Dollars). There are 166 different currencies available for use in SeekerWorks™. This function also provides average exchange rates for those currencies.
  4. The "Gifts" function now has an (Exchange Rates) button on it (see #3 above). Also, you can record gifts in a "batch" for any currency you wish as long as an exchange rate has been defined from that currency type to your base currency type. You'll notice a new column that shows the equivalent value of a gift in your base currency whenever you use multiple currencies. The Gift Amount multiplied by the exchange rate yields your Base Currency Amount.
  5. The "Pledges" function now has an (Exchange Rates) button on it (see #3 above). Your Giving Units can pledge in any currency desired, as long as an average exchange rate has been defined from that currency type to your base currency type. All active prayer requests (except those marked as "confidential" will be emailed to each person included in the Distribution List linked to the "Prayer Distribution List" field on the {SMTP Settings} tab of the "Choose Options" screen. This function uses the SMTP Email Engine released in version 2007-3-1 and assumes you have an email server with valid settings specified on the same tab mentioned above.
  2. A new "Base Currency" field is now available on the {Formats- Phone Numbers/Addresses} tab of the "Choose Options" screen, where you can choose the currency of your organization. The default is "USD" (US Dollar). This allows the development of multi-currency giving records for our friends outside of the United States (available in an upcoming release).
  3. A new "Fiscal Year Begins:" field is now available on the {Formats- Phone Numbers/Addresses} tab of the "Choose Options" screen, where you can select the month your fiscal year begins (if it's different from the beginning of the calendar year). The default is the beginning of January.
  4. The "Gift Analysis" screen now uses the "Fiscal Year Begins" field (#3 above) to determine the total giving for the Fiscal Year-To-Date, as well as the average giving for the Fiscal Year-To-Date. Also available is the same information for Calendar Year-To-Date.
  5. The "Pictures By Family (half page)" report now shows cell phone and email address for every name linked to the household. You can also select which households you want to print (same options as the 1/8th page version). It also prints in booklet form now, assuming a saddle-stitch staple in the middle of the page fold.
  6. The "Pictures By Family (1/8th page)" report now shows cell phone numbers for the person(s) linked to the household with their "Household Label" box checked.
  7. SeekerWorks™ now replicates a name change whenever a person's name changes. If you change a name on a "Household" or "Organization" Giving Unit, it updates the "Names/Addresses" information and vice versa. This also corrects some issues where the names don't seem to sort properly after a name change within a group of names, such as small group members, class/seminar rosters, volunteers, etc. However, you should clear the labels, email and mail merge files and reload them if you want a name change to appear there also.
  8. FIX: The booklet print option of the Pictures By Family reports were calculating the wrong number of pages and printing more blank space than they should have. They now print correctly.
  9. FIX: The "Small Group Summary" report was not showing small groups with leaders but no non-leader members. This problem has been corrected.
  10. FIX: The abend error occurring with the Small Group Attendance reports has been corrected.

SeekerWorksSetup2007-3-1.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. IMPORTANT: The first and last name fields at the bottom of the Giving Unit screen have been reversed! Remember to mention this to whoever records your giving information so they don't key the names in backwards.
  2. This version of SeekerWorks™ upgrades to Microsoft® Visual FoxPro® version 9.0, which is the only version of Visual FoxPro® supported by Microsoft® for Windows Vista computers. 6. On the "Assimilation" screen, the Email Address field has been added.
  7. The EZ Check-IN process now has the added feature of only printing a Check-IN report when the child has special text to print (i.e., restrictions on who can pick up the child, medical instructions and/or special instructions).
  8. The EZ Check-IN and scheduling reports no longer show the unique team number in parentheses next to the team name. This should reduce confusion as to what the number is for.
  9. The "Email Follow Ups" function has been improved with the use of an SMTP Email Engine under license from Marshallsoft Computing. This function no longer tries to use Microsoft® Outlook® to send follow ups.
  10. A new (Email Reminders To Scheduled Volunteers...) button has been added to the "List Of Ministries" screen. When clicked, the "Email Reminders To Scheduled Volunteers" screen appears, where you can send an email to everyone scheduled to volunteer over the next seven days, or you can select the Ministry Team and/or Attendance Type for the emails. You can also modify the "Email Content" by adding your own text and/or changing the default text for the reminders. 15. The Small Group Attendance reports can now filter by Coach in addition to Division and/or Small Group.

  18. The Picture Directory reports can now filter who you want to include in the directory.

A number of cosmetic changes are included in this version, such as sorting the pop-up list of names by first name and/or postal code, keeping the scheduled list position when you click (Save), changing all related records when changing Ministry Group information, changing all related records when changing security for a user-ID, etc.
  20. A number of bugs have been fixed in this version, such as the abend when you first access the "Gifts" screen, when you try to erase scheduling information, and when you have more than 100 students in the same class/seminar (it can now accommodate up to 5000 students).

SeekerWorksSetup2007-2-2.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. A warning has been added to the (Gifts) screen. If you click (Cancel) or the (X) box in the upper right corner of the window without saving your giving information, you will get the following message: WARNING: You haven't saved your changes yet. Do you want to leave this screen without saving your changes? Click (No), then (Save) to save your changes.
  2. You can now fill the city/state/country fields by keying in a postal code. It will fill in the city name and state from the list you pre-defined in the Auto Fill table and fill the country field with the default country code from the (Options) screen.
  3. If you click the (...) button to select an address from the list of addresses on file, you now have the option to filter the list by whatever value you type in the "Search For:" field (such as "Sunset" to find Sunset Blvd., Sunset Pkwy, Sunset Ct., etc.)
  4. International address capabilities have been enhanced. If you select a country code different from the default country code from the (Options) screen, all phone number fields ignore format definitions (i.e., (nnn) nnn-nnnn) and allow up to 14 characters. The postal code field ignores the format definition also (i.e., nnnnn-nnnn) and allows up to 10 characters.
  5. The (Show Map) buttons now use maps.google.com instead of maps.yahoo.com, since there is better results with international addresses in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, etc. In addition, while some of you used to use maps.yahoo.com to find the ZIP+4 value, which it appears they've stopped supplying, we're working on address validation over the internet with the US Postal Service instead (hopefully available soon).
  6. The font on the Assimilation screen has been reduced to 8-point (instead of 9-point) in order to show longer Assimilation Category names for those of you who want to define your own through the (Follow Up Paths) function.
  7. All of the attendance reports have a 13-week version now, which include birth dates and phone numbers.
  8. The (Ministry Group) option of the (Email) function can now create an email with the email address(es) of the person's parents (assuming the parents have email addresses linked to them).

  10. The warning that was supposed to pop up in the previous version now really does pop up if a person is being linked to more than one small group within the same small group division. This eliminates the program error when adding to a small group.
  11. The (Attendance) function logic was somehow broken in the previous release. When you clicked the (Save) button, then the (Cancel) button, the attendance totals would not appear on the "List of Attendance Totals" screen as it should. If you experienced this, please call (763) 262-0333 to receive assistance adding the missing record(s)-- the detail data was saved correctly, just not the total.
  12. The "Buy Now" link to our web site from the Activation screen now works and no longer causes a program error when you click it.

SeekerWorksSetup2007-2-1.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. A new function called "EZ Check-IN" has been integrated within SeekerWorks™ to automate the check-in/check-out process for your kids' ministries. This includes being able to use an RFID (radio-frequency identification) reader for a proximity card or key fob, a touch-screen instead of keyboard/mouse, and DYMO printer for name tags and labels. You can also print check-in/check-out reports (if you want) with extra information for the appropriate teacher, showing restriction information (who is authorized to pick up the child), medical information (such as allergies) and special need information.
  2. A new button is available through the (Volunteers/Ministries) function for (Team Schedules), which also integrates with EZ Check-IN.
  3. A function under Tables/Utilities is available called (Facility Information) to record your building(s) and rooms for use with Team Schedules and EZ Check-IN.
  4. The Update A Name/Address screen has many new buttons to show information about the person. If the person has certain information, the button(s) on the right side of the screen will change color to indicate this information exists.
  5. The "Grade:" field on a person's {Phones/Work/School} tab is now alphanumeric instead of numeric, so you can indicate "K" for Kindergarten or "C1/C2/C3/C4/etc." for College grade (C1 for freshman, C2 for sophomore, etc.). The GRADU8P3 batch program continues to promote or graduate names automatically as appropriate.
  6. A new function for tracking "Prospects" of your ministry is now available. Keep track of people on your prayer list before they ever set foot in your building.

  10. The (Load People Labels) function now includes check-boxes to indicate whether you want to include inactive names, visitors, and/or put titles on the labels.
  11. There are three new reports that complement the EZ Check-IN process. They all begin with "EZ Check-IN" in the list of (Reports).
  12. There are three new reports that complement the Team Schedules function. They all begin with "Volunteers Scheduled" in the list of (Reports).
  13. A new "Phone Book (Two column layout)" report is now available to show family information, including birth dates, cell phone numbers, etc.
  14. Other minor enhancements and bug fixes are included as well. Thank you for those of you who sent the screen prints with the program error information. It is invaluable when trying to fix these problems.

SeekerWorksSetup2006-4-2.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. The Assimilation categories are now modifiable-- you can call them what you want or create new ones on the {Rename Assimilation Categories} tab of the "Assimilation/Follow Up (Tickler) Map" screen (click the "Follow Up Paths" menu option, then click the (Assimilation/Follow Up (Tickler) Map...) button). However, there is still a limit of 10 categories.
  2. The "Names NOT In A Small Group By Postal Code" report now has page breaks for each unique Postal Code value.
  3. A new version of the "Small Group Attendance" report is now available with page breaks for each small group (select the "Small Group Attendance with Page Breaks" report instead).
  4. The "Volunteers/Ministries" function now has the option to group Volunteers tied to Ministry Positions on separate teams within a ministry (stay tuned for our automated attendance function currently under development!).
  5. The "Attendance Type" screen now has options to associate the day of the week, starting and ending times to an Attendance Type. This is also necessary for the automated attendance function.

  1. Eleven new exports are now available as the first installment of a "data warehouse", which you can use to create your own reports using whatever tool you want to use, such as Microsoft® Excel®, Access®, etc. The subject areas include Names/ Addresses, Attendance By Person, Attendance Totals, Classes/Seminars, Class Students w/Attendance, Gifts, Giving Units, Pledges, Small Groups, Small Group Members w/Attendance, and Volunteers w/Spiritual Gift Information.
  2. A new import is now available to load detail gifts and giving units from a comma separated value file. A related function is included to reformat a spreadsheet into the format expected for loading.
  3. All reports, when viewed on the screen, now automatically maximize to the size of the screen. If no data is found for the report, a pop-up window now notifies you of that situation. Also, if you click the printer icon when viewing a report, you will now see a pop-up screen asking you which printer you want to print the report to.
  4. The "Address Counts By Postal Code" report now has an option to show detail, which means each address in that postal code and each name linked to that address (if any).
  5. The attendance reports (Attendance By Person, Class/Seminar Attendance and Small Group Attendance) now have an option to only show absentees based upon the number of consecutive weeks missed setting on the Attendance Type, Class/Seminar, or Small Group Division record.
  6. Two new reports are available to show "Names NOT in a Small Group...", sorted either by Last Name or by Postal Code.
  7. The transactional update logic has been enhanced to include pictures. In previous versions, these files have been excluded due to their size. However, the decision was made to include them in this version.
  8. New fields have been added to virtually every file to tighten up the transactional update logic. While these changes will be finished in the next release, you may notice a slight delay when you start this version of SeekerWorks™ for the first time while the program adds all of these fields. Just be patient and wait a few seconds for the logon screen to appear.
  9. A problem on the Labels screen inadvertently excluded the last household in the list when trying to select each label one-by-one. This problem has been fixed.

SeekerWorksSetup2006-3-1.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. A new button for loading labels has been added. You will now see (Load People Labels...) and (Load Giving Units...) buttons. This doesn't mean to imply Giving Units are not people of course, but, since a Giving Unit doesn't have to be in the (Names/Addresses) list, it's difficult to print labels without this feature. So, without further ado, enjoy your new giving unit labels!
  2. The spiritual gifts screens have been consolidated into one enhanced screen. Gifts lists for NetWork (curriculum from Willow Creek), echurchessentials.com and the list of talents from Saddleback Community Church have been added, as well as the ability to record your own "free-form" gifts using the "Other" option.
  3. The spiritual gifts search function has been tweaked to more accurately sort the names based upon your search criteria.
  4. A new data import is available for e-gifts, leadership style and e-personality information from the assessme.org web site (a division of E-Church Essentials).
  5. You can now add a new name or update information about an existing name through the screen that pops up when you want to link a person to something, such as a small group, or volunteer position. Just click the (...) button to the right of the search field, then click the (Add) button, or find the name you want and click the (Update) button. No longer do you need to get out of the function you're in and go to the (Names/Addresses) function to add or update a name.
  6. All screens that can add or update an address now have a "Country" pick list available, just in case the person has an address outside your country. If you leave the field blank, it will default to the country defined on the (Options) screen. If it's different from that, the rules for State/Province, Postal Code and Phone numbers no longer apply, allowing you to format those values however you'd like, up to the maximum number of characters available for those fields (3, 10, and 14 respectively).
  7. Attendance for a small group has been expanded to accommodate up to 5000 names. The previous 100 name maximum was not enough in some cases.
  8. The Attendance by Person feature has been modified to allow you to define which Ministry Groups you want to limit the attendance to. It defaults to all ministry groups, but if you only want to keep attendance by person for your Children's Ministries (for example), you can now indicate this on the screen to add or change an Attendance Type. Just uncheck those you don't want.
  9. The (Gifts) function will now WARN you if you key in the same check number for the same giving unit. It will suggest you use the "Split" function instead of keying the information on two separate lines.
  10. The Small Groups sign-in sheets now have the option to show birth dates, if you click the check box indicating you want them on the report.
  11. Some of the buttons now have "tool-tip" text that appears when you hover over a button, just in case you're not sure what to do.
  12. Numerous problems have been fixed in this release, including problems with the Household report and the Pictures By Family reports. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced because of these problems. If this has caused you not to buy a license, please give us another chance to impress you-- we will give you instructions on how to restart your trial period for another 30 days if you simply contact SeekerWorks Inc.

SeekerWorksSetup2006-2-2.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. A new (Pastoral Care) function is now available to track counseling sessions, visitation, phone calls or other forms of pastoral care follow up for each person.
  2. The (Names/Addresses) function now has buttons to link you to any (Assimilation...) forms the person may have filled out in the past, (Classes...) the person is registered for or has taken, (Pastoral...) care entries, if any, in addition to the previous buttons already available (Attendance, Follow Ups, Prayer Requests, Volunteer Application, Spiritual Gifts, Small Group Information, Personal Picture, and Family Picture options).
  3. A new (Gift Analysis) function is now available to analyze your giving information for a month, including a Giving Unit total for the month by dollar range, how many gifts were given, how many Giving Units are also members, and/or in small groups, etc. There's also a tab to determine who hasn't given anything in x number of weeks, which can be used to create Follow Ups to see if they may be in a crisis or need other pastoral care. Other tabs are available to show the detail behind each of the totals, where you can <double-click> a name and see all of their giving for the year.
  4. The new "Attendance By Person" report is now available for those tracking attendance by person for a given Attendance Type (Note: the Attendance Type must have been created with the "Keep Attendance By Person" box checked in order to keep attendance for each person.) You can optionally create follow ups for anyone who has been absent x number of times as well.
  5. A new button under "My Info:" can be used to change your password at any time.
  6. A new (Spiritual Gifts Search) function is now available to find everyone with a particular spiritual gift or gift mix, as defined by the curriculum you've chosen for your organization. An example is show me everyone with the gift of "Leadership" who also has the gift of "Shepherding". The list sorts by a score calculated based upon the person's gift mix, and also shows personality information. Simply <double-click> a name to see their respective "Spiritual Gifts" screen.
  7. The "Labels" functions have been re-organized. In addition, if you want to load all of the names for a ministry group, you can now specify whether you want to see the parent(s) name (if available) or "To The Parent(s) Of: xxxxxxxx". This function no longer gives an error either.
  8. The (Gifts) function no longer gives you an error when you want to split a gift among multiple Gift Categories.
  9. The logic to fill the Parent(s) Names fields has been adjusted to not fill the field when more than two names are linked to the household with the "Household Label" box checked. Also, reports showing the Parent(s) Names will show blank if that person's "Household Label" box is checked, since the assumption is they are an adult and the Parent(s) Names are irrelevant for that report.
  10. The (Reports) function has been streamlined to ask whether you want to view, print or send the report to a text file only once, even if a pop-up screen appears asking for report parameters.
  11. Numerous other cosmetic changes and corrections have been made throughout the system to enhance your experience with SeekerWorks™.

SeekerWorksSetup2006-2-1.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. All (Show Map) buttons now use maps.yahoo.com instead of mapquest.com, since mapquest.com expects you to purchase a license for commercial purposes.
  2. All screens asking for a date will no longer cause an abend when an invalid date is typed into a date field. This includes lists where you can re-position the list based upon the date provided.
  3. On the "Update A Household" screen you can now click the (Activate All) button to reactivate "Inactive" names in the household or the (Inactivate All) button to inactivate all of the names linked to the household.
  4. The "Gift Categories" function now lets you rename the category, which changes all of the gifts and totals linked to it to the new category, as long as the new category does not already exist.
  5. The "Gifts" function now has an (Erase) button to remove giving totals with no gifts linked to them. It also lets you change the Gift Date and/or the Attendance Type at any time, as long as the new Date/Type combination does not already exist, as well as showing the number of gifts linked to the current Gift Date/ Attendance Type combination.
  6. The "Attendance Totals" function now lets you change the Event Date and/or the Attendance Type at any time, as long as the new Date/Type combination does not already exist. This includes the Attendance Types set up with the "Keep Attendance By Person" box checked on the "Attendance Types/Groups" screen.
  7. The "Small Groups" screen now has a (Print) button to view and/or print the structure of the small group (Small Group by Coach within Division).
  8. A "Update A Name/Address" screen now has new (Print) button to print the "Personal Information" report for one page that contains all of the person's information from that screen, including their picture (if previously loaded), small group links, volunteer assignments, and/or class/seminar roster links.
  9. The "Update A Name/Address" screen also has working (Attendance...), (Follow Ups...) and (Prayer Req...) buttons to show you any attendance information that exists for them, any Follow Ups (Ticklers) they have initiated, and any Prayer Requests they may have made, whether they're currently active or not.
  10. The problems with the "Classes/Seminars" function have been corrected. Please see the example in the sample database for assistance in using this function (at least until there is help text for it).
  11. When you view or print the "Attendance For: <Class/Seminar Name>" report, you can also create Follow Ups (Ticklers) for anyone who has missed x consecutive sessions of the class, with x defined on the "Add/Update A Class/Seminar" screen.
  12. When you view or print the "Attendance For: <Small Group Name>" report, you can also create Follow Ups (Ticklers) for anyone who has missed x consecutive sessions of the small group, with x defined on the "Small Group Divisions" screen.
  13. You can now load a picture for each Scheduled Class/Seminar using the (Picture...) button.
  14. You can now load a picture for each Ministry (via the "Volunteers" function) using the (Picture...) button.
  15. Whenever you're on a screen that loads a picture from your computer into the database, the program remembers the last folder you loaded a picture from and automatically puts you into that folder when you want to load another picture.
  16. Two new reports (the "Pictures By Family (1/8th page)" and "Pictures By Individual (1/8th page)" reports) are available if you want to print a pictorial directory in a booklet form with 4 pictures per half page. If you print duplexed also, you can add a cover and staple the booklets in the middle for your own directory!
  17. The "Security - Functions" screen now has a (Clone) button. This button will change the TO User's functional security settings to those of the FROM User.
  18. The Sample Database now has 2006 testing data.

SeekerWorksSetup2006-1-2.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. Small Groups can now be grouped by Division. This allows you to rename your small group ministry using only one Division, or segregate groups from each other. All reports are also Division sensitive.
  2. A new Small Group Attendance report is available to show who was present when, with totals by group, coach and/or division.
  3. A new Small Group Sign-In Sheet report is available to ease the process of recording attendance for small group meetings.
  4. Each Small Group can now be linked to a picture of the leader(s).
  5. A new Small Group Flyer report now shows the picture of each small group leader as well as information about the group (i.e., current topic, meeting date/ time/ location, etc.)
  6. A new Classes/Seminars Attendance report is available to show who was present when, with totals for each scheduling of a class, as well as totals for the class.
  7. A new Classes/Seminars Sign-In Sheet report is available to ease the process of recording attendance for session of a class or seminar.
  8. The To-Do List screen now has an option to filter out all Completed tasks (the default) or to show every task, regardless of status. It also includes a (Print) button to print the To-Do List report for a user.
  9. A new To-Do List report is available to show all tasks for a user and/or all uncompleted tasks for a user.

SeekerWorksSetup2006-1-1.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. SeekerWorks™ now imports the 'Full Membership List' report and the 'Contributions Detail List' report from Shelby Systems.
  2. The (Giving Units) function now includes an option to MERGE two Giving Units together, in case a duplicate is added by mistake.
  3. The (Giving Units) function also includes a new button (Giving Totals) to show giving activity for the Giving Unit if the user can access the (Totals By Giving Unit) function.
  4. The (Giving Units) function now includes an option to mark the Giving Unit as Inactive and also suppress that Giving Unit from the list when the 'Exclude Inactive Giving Units' checkbox is selected.
  5. The (Names/Addresses) function now includes an option to MERGE two Names together, in case a duplicate is added by mistake.
  6. The (Names/Addresses) function now includes an option to choose who the person's parents are, instead of using up to two names linked to the same Household ID marked as "Household Label" (the default). This can also be used for adults (see the {Personal} tab for more).
  7. The Auto-Key feature of the (Names/Addresses) function has been fixed.
  8. The (Attendance Totals) function, when the Attendance Type is set up to "Use Ministry Groups Instead", can now accommodate attendance by person for up to 5,000 names (instead of 1,000).
  9. The (Gifts) function now includes the option to record giving by Attendance Type. It also provides a box to indicate the deposit date separately from the date of the gift(s). The Attendance Type can now be used to group attendance totals with giving totals for the same Attendance Type (e.g., '9:00 a.m. Service' vs. '11:00 a.m. Service').
  10. The (Options) function now includes a button to create another SeekerWorks™ database. Once created, a screen appears prior to the logon screen to choose the database you want to work with. You can create up to 10 unique databases, each with their own security settings.
  11. The (Options) function also includes a new button to select a network directory that can be used to automatically install future releases of SeekerWorks™. In the future, if you save the SeekerWorksSetupYYYY-Q-R.exe program into this directory (YYYY=Year, Q=Quarter, R=Release), then install SeekerWorks™ on one computer, any other computer using SeekerWorks™ on your network will detect a new version is available and automatically initiate the install on that computer. This simplifies the job of upgrading all copies of SeekerWorks™ by a network administrator in a network environment.

SeekerWorksSetup2005-4-2.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. SeekerWorks™ now supports international address and telephone formats for our friends in Canada, Australia and the UK, including rearranging city, state and postal code combinations. More information will be available soon.
  2. SeekerWorks™ can now trigger Follow Up Paths based upon new names in a particular Ministry Group, using the "Maintain The Ministry Group List" screen. Each group can trigger it's own path, creating follow ups for the person(s) responsible for that Ministry Group, instead of only having two path options (New Adult or New Youth). The Follow Up Path trigger "New Name" is still available, but triggering New Adult or New Youth paths separately are not.
  3. Due to the confusion we've created trying to unlink a name or address (household) using the <Delete> key after you select the (...) button, SeekerWorks™ now asks you if you want to unlink that name after you click the (...) button and then click (cancel) on the "Select A Name" screen. You can still use the <Delete> key as normal, but now also answer (Yes) to unlink the name.
  4. The (Gifts) process has been streamlined to minimize the number of keystrokes needed to put in a gift.
  5. The "Update A Name/Address (Adult)" and "Update A Name/Address (Youth)" screens have been combined using a page frame containing four tabs ({Address/Phone}, {Personal}, {Work/School}, and {Church}). Now, all of the fields are available for every name, instead of depending on the Ministry Group they were in. This allows room for new requested fields and information, such as a work email address separate from a personal email address.
  6. Each household can now have two associated addresses, such as an address where the household lives and a different mailing address. If Address-2 is the mailing address, simply check the "This is the mailing address" box and all screens will show the mailing address instead of whatever is in Address-1.
  7. An "Un-read" indicator has been added to the messages screen, so it will pop-up when a unread message is detected for the current user. It used to pop-up as long as there were messages on the {Current} tab. Now, once the message has been reviewed, the screen will stop interrupting the user every five minutes.
  8. The "Small Group Summary" report now shows the current topic for each group and suppresses the "Coach" information if no coach has been linked to the group.
  9. An (Erase) button has been added to the "List Of Campaigns" screen, as well as the "Update Campaign Team Information" screen.
  10. The (Erase) button on the "List Of Names" screen no longer gives an error when trying to erase a name.
  11. The "Pictures By Family (half-page)" now shows real pictures, instead of those from the demo database, and is sorted by last name and first name.
  12. The "Sign-In Sheet By Last Name, First Name" and "Sign-In Sheet By First Name, Last Name" reports show the correct information now.

SeekerWorksSetup2005-4-1.exe included the following enhancements and fixes:

  1. The Classes/Seminars module is now available. Create a Class/Seminar, then schedule the first meeting and link students to the class roster.
  2. Attendance by person is now available. This can be for Classes/Seminars, Small Groups and even worship service Attendance Totals (as requested).
  3. The Import feature now accepts <TAB> delimited .txt files in the same format as the Outlook Contacts.csv export from Outlook, which you can create and "save as" with Excel, etc. (as requested).
  4. You can now add an email address to User-ID information and email new Follow Ups (Ticklers) to the person without requiring them to logon to SeekerWorks to get them. Of course, they can still logon and update their Follow Up (Tickler) File.
  5. The number of Attendance Groups for each Attendance Type has been expanded from 10 to 14 in order to accommodate Attendance by person (summarized by Ministry Group, which equate to the Attendance Group).
  6. A new Follow Up (Tickler) Path Trigger has been added to initiate a new "Dismissed" Follow Up Path when a user dismisses a Follow Up on an Assimilation-triggered Path. This path was added to provide the capability to notify a user when a name or household may need to be purged from the database.
  7. The Follow Up (Tickler) List report now includes mailing address and parent(s) name(s) if the person linked is not an Adult (as requested).
  8. All reports no longer show a hyphen on the ZIP Codes when the ZIP+4 code is not included (as requested).
  9. You can now add a negative amount on the Gifts "Split Screen" to offset an original gift when a check bounces (it wouldn't allow all amounts to total to zero before).
  10. International Dates are now supported for our friends in Canada and Australia.
  11. You can specify the Date to print on the Sign-In Sheet reports (as requested).
  12. The Address has been added to the student roster reports (as requested).
  13. The Ministry Group Merge logic has been fixed on the Ministry Groups screen.
